Long and boring ramblings

Random (long-ish) thoughts of the day…
I haven't watched All My Children on a regular basis in I'm not sure how many months. However, from what I've seen, I had been enjoying Kendall and Aidan. I thought they had great chemistry, I've grown to include Kendall in my list of favorite characters (even though I couldn't stand her when Alicia Minshew joined the cast of AMC), and I think Aiden Turner is charming and adorable.
However.
Yesterday, one of my friends compared Aidan/Kendall to a couple that I am firmly against, and I can no longer support an Aidan/Kendall pairing.
The couple? Seth and Summer from The O.C.
Think about it. Both involve a somewhat obnoxious, snarky female who can be downright mean to the guy. Both involve a sweet, appealing guy who adores the witch-y girl, despite said cruelty. In both cases, the guy deserves to be treated better, perhaps by the third part of the equation (Mia/Anna), who seems to care much more about the well-being of the guy.
To me, the couples really are similar, and since I can't bring myself to support Summer/Seth, I can't in good conscience continue to support Kendall/Aidan.
So, it's time for me to give Aidan/Mia a chance, and hope to goodness that the show doesn't go with Kendall/Ryan. (I think Kendall's awesome, but I cannot stand her with Ryan. Besides, I enjoy Ryan and Greens together.)
Speaking of The O.C.
As most of you probably know, I'm fairly obsessed with The O.C., and I'm a fan of Seth and Anna. So, it probably doesn't come as a shock that my dream triangle (which one of my friends suggested quite some time ago) would be Seth/Anna/Ryan.
I'm thinking something a little along the lines of Dawson's Creek. Let Anna and Seth get together for good (no more Seth/Summer, a.k.a. Dawson/Jen, though I know those pairings aren't that alike). Let them be happy for a while, but then have something come between them, maybe Seth's immaturity. Have Anna and Ryan grow closer, develop feelings for each other, but then be afraid to do anything about it for fear of ruining their friendships with Seth.
Yes, there are problems with this comparison, such as the fact that ultimately I'd want Seth and Anna together (and I did not want Joey to end up with Dawson). Still, I think it would be interesting to watch, if for no other reason that it would provide lots of chances for good, heated, subtexty scenes between Ryan and Seth. ;) (Wait, what am I saying? As if the subtext isn't obvious in all of their scenes! ;))
Then again, I probably just want this because I love Seth, Anna, and Ryan (and don't care for Summer or Marissa). =) By the way, Ryan? I love him now. Absolutely love him. Benjamin McKenzie is hilarious, and his brand of humor complements Adam Brody's beautifully.
I'm sure you really wanted to know all this, right? ;)
I hope I didn't offend anyone with my comments. They're just my opinions (and not particularly popular ones at that).
I hope everyone has a wonderful evening. =)
Also... yay Panthers! =)

Date: 2003-12-15 07:37 am (UTC)Oh, me, too. (Sorry if I said otherwise before. :\) I hated Dawson at the time, but that was simply because I thought he might come between Pacey and Joey.
Ryan and Anna? I just don't see it. She's too happy and well-adjusted for him, I think. He's more of the brooding, angsty type.
Mmm, I see your point. I guess that's why it's more of my dream storyline than anything I think actually would (or even could and still make sense) happen on the show. I still think that, taken slowly, it might not be so hard to believe, but yeah, I see your point.
