While the Vatican does not endorse political candidates, and regards pastoral guidance on elections as something for local bishops, that doesn't stop lots of Americans from wanting to know what the Vatican thinks about the Bush-Kerry race.

Over the last several months, I've discussed the elections informally with at least two dozen Vatican officials, ranging from cardinals to junior clergy. Based on these conversations, plus comparing notes with colleagues, I believe that if a secret ballot were to be held in the Holy See, Kerry would beat Bush about 60-40.

Just thought that was interesting!

You know, I always find it fun to watch television with different people, just to see what they find funny. Today, for example, I saw a rerun of "Friends" with two of my cousins, both twenty-something year old males. The plotline with Joey, Chandler, and Ross helping Joey prepare to host a game show (Bamboozled?) had them laughing, but Rachel's baby shower? Nothing.

Let's see. This past weekend was awesome. I went to a family friend's bat mitzvah Saturday morning and really enjoyed it. I'm not Jewish and don't have that many Jewish friends, so it was a very new experience for me. A good new experience, too. Plus, I was very proud of her, so, yay. *g* I have to say, though, that I would have been extremely intimidated if I had had to go through all that to be confirmed. On the other hand, it probably would have been a more rewarding experience.
